Achievements

The artistic achievements of the Folk Group "Warszawa" of the University of Physical Education show their measurable effects. For many years the dancers from Bielany have belonged to the top leaders among amateur dance groups and have won a number of precious awards in the times when artistic competitions were held. Thus, the Folk Group Warszawa" has three times won the first place in various reviews of the artistic output of the Academies of Physical Education and Physical Education Establishments (Cracow '71, Gdansk '74, Warsaw '76). It won also the third place for "the great dance technique" at the Festival of Students' Folk Groups (Katowice '78), and an award for Czesław Sroka and Ryszard Teperek - the choreographers of the Group - for "the exemplary team discipline of the dancers" at the National Festival of the Students’ Folk Groups (Katowice '76). At the same event individual awards were presented to Bożena Stańczak and Jan Łosakiewicz - the solo dancers of the Group.

The biggest success of the Group was its victory in the international Folk Festival in the French city of Dijon in 1985. Experts called the Festival - "Olympic Folk Games". The fact is recognized as a great success since the Festival itself, organized since 1946, is considered to be very prestigious, and there was no other Polish artistic group that would have won the highest trophy which is "The Golden Necklace of the Burgund Princesses".

The latest achievements of the Group were: the third place at the International Folk Festival in Yalova in Turkey and the third place in a competition of national folk costumes that took place at the same time at a festival in the nearby Orhangazi (1998).

The artistic achievements of the ZTL "Warszawa" of the University of Physical Education, as well as its repercussions abroad, were awarded in 1980 by the then Society of Links between the Polonia Abroad - "Polonia" with a "Medal and Diploma for the Contribution of the Group in the Strengthening of the Patriotic Links between the Polonia and the Homeland". The Group was also awarded a "Golden Cross of Merits" by the State’s Council in 1985.
